Teenagers in the Mentor’s Project of Bibb County came together to create anti-violence t-shirts. Students in the Leadership Academy decided to make this their service project this year.

They unveiled the design of the shirts during a news conference on Wednesday with Mayor Lester Miller. The front of the t-shirt reads “Love me whole I’m here. Don’t wait till I’m gone.” Tthe back reads “Violence Is Not The Answer.”

“Our kids wanted to join with the community in its Macon Violence Prevention efforts and show people that violence is not the answer. They came up with this idea and created the design; we are all very proud of them,” said Mentor’s Project Executive Director June O’Neal. “As a fundraiser, this will help our community support these wonderful children be successful in school and participate in its activities.”

The goal is to raise money for the community that will help students pay for prom dues, sports, and supplies they may need.

“I am so proud of these students for stepping up to find a way they can help their community,” said Mayor Miller. “They are setting an example for the next generation.”

T-shirts are $20 and can be ordered from the Mentor’s Project by calling (478) 765-8624.
