From Macon Black Culture -Macon Black Culture will present a meaningful Juneteenth Wreath Ceremony on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. in front of Macon-Bibb City Hall (700 Poplar Street). This community event will honor the historical significance of Juneteenth while celebrating freedom, unity, and the continuing journey toward equality in Middle Georgia.
The Wreath Ceremony serves as a powerful symbol of remembrance and hope, commemorating June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved African Americans in Texas learned of their freedom – more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. This pivotal moment in American history represents not only the end of slavery but also the ongoing pursuit of true equality and justice.
“I find the representation from our Government to be very important, and you can’t spell community without unity,” said Muse Dixon, speaking on behalf of the ceremony’s significance and its location at the heart of Macon’s civic center.
Macon Black Culture, the organization behind this meaningful event, is dedicated to instilling love, pride, unity, and empowerment in the Black community of Middle Georgia. Through partnerships with businesses and nonprofit organizations serving underserved communities, they create events and activations that provide hope and resources while fostering positive community transformation.
This public event welcomes all community members, civic leaders, families, and anyone interested in honoring this important chapter in American history. The ceremony aims to educate attendees about Juneteenth’s significance while strengthening bonds within Macon’s diverse community.
