Suppression

The Macon-Bibb Fire Department is an ISO Classification of Class 1.

The Suppression/Firefighting Division is the hub of our department with certified first responders, EMT’s and Paramedics who respond to all fire emergencies to the citizens of Bibb County.  The Suppression Division is comprised of 22 fire stations with 430 sworn firefighting personnel, which are divided into three Battalions and shifts. The Battalions are led by highly trained and experienced officers. We have several special task teams such as Hazardous Material Technicians, GSAR Task Force Team, Scuba Divers, and Aircraft Fire/ Rescue teams within this division. The Suppression Division also mitigates aircraft rescue protections for the Macon-Bibb Airport.  The Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting personnel are certified through the Federal Aviation Administration and the Georgia Firefighters Standards and Training.
