Macon – A man who repeatedly stabbed a woman in the face outside a home on Macon’s Houston Avenue in 2017 pleaded guilty to aggravated assault – family violence and kidnapping on Tuesday.
Jury selection had been set to begin Tuesday afternoon for Emanuel Dewayne Williams Sr., 39.
As a result of his plea, Williams was sentenced to 20 years, seven of them in prison.

Bibb County deputies were dispatched to Pendleton Homes, 3401 Houston Avenue, on March 5, 2017, after receiving multiple 911 calls about a person being cut. When the deputies arrived, Williams’ wife begged for help, saying Williams was trying to kill her. She had cuts on her face and hands. Her clothes were soaked in blood.
The woman told authorities she and Williams were in a car driving to Pendleton Homes when she told Williams she wanted to end their relationship. Williams became angry and the woman – who was driving – pulled over at a store on Houston Avenue and got out of the car. Williams dragged the woman back to the car, forced her inside and drove her to Pendleton Homes. When they arrived, Williams threatened her with a knife during an argument inside their home. The woman escaped out a window and ran to a nearby apartment for help. As the resident opened the door, Williams grabbed the woman and stabbed her repeatedly with a steak knife. Two women from the apartment hit and kicked Williams until his wife was able to break free and run to another apartment for help.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Williams additionally pleaded guilty to violating his probation on a 2015 conviction for failure to register as a sex offender.
Speaking after the hearing, Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney David Cooke said, “No woman should have to live in fear of her own husband. We vigorously prosecute family violence crimes like this one because it’s our job as prosecutors to help keep families in our community safe.”
