Every great park has someone working behind the scenes to keep it wonderful.

In the latest episode of On Call, we spend the day with Derrick Chaney, whose work helps make Amerson River Park one of Georgia’s premier parks. From mowing grass and trimming trees along the trails to cleaning restrooms and picking up litter, Derrick takes pride in making sure every visitor enjoys a clean, safe, and beautiful park.

But for Derrick, the best part of the job isn’t the landscaping or maintenance, it’s the people. Seeing families, walkers, runners, and visitors enjoying the park each day reminds him why his work matters. He believes the Macon community is something special, and he’s proud to play a role in preserving one of its most treasured spaces.

On Call is a new video series that takes you behind the scenes with the dedicated Macon-Bibb County employees who keep our community running. Watch Derrick’s story and meet one of the many people making a difference every day.
