Macon – Jurors deliberated for about 20 minutes Wednesday before finding a 28-year-old man guilty of going to a motel with the intent to have sex with a 15-year-old girl in March 2015.

Toney Mac Quesenberry, of Macon, was convicted on one count of computer pornography and child exploitation and one count of criminal attempt to commit a felony. A Bibb County Superior Court judge sentenced him to 25 years, 15 of them in prison. Quesenberry additionally is required to register as a sex offender for life.

The two-day trial was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Dorothy Hull and Chief Assistant District Attorney Nancy Scott Malcor.

Evidence presented during the trial showed:

Quesenberry responded to a Craig’s List advertisement for sex with a 15-year-old girl and her mother. The ad was posted by undercover police officers as part of a sting operation.

Quesenberry acknowledged in an email responding to the ad that he knew sex with a 15-year-old would be illegal.

Quesenberry testified he believed he was talking to the girl’s mother. In reality, he was emailing an FBI agent.

He arrived at a Macon motel eight minutes after being given a meeting place and time.

Speaking after the sentencing, Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney David Cooke said, “Mr. Quesenberry showed up at the motel expecting to have sex with a child. I’m grateful that he found a law enforcement officer instead. Anyone who engages in the same conduct should not be surprised to meet justice on the other side of the door.”
