Mayor Lester Miller declared a State of Emergency for Macon-Bibb County beginning Tuesday, April 5. This is in response to the County and surrounding Middle Georgia region suffering substantial damage due to multiple lines of storms that included strong winds, rain, lightning, and more.

Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director Spencer Hawkins has activated operations under the Local Emergency Operation Plan. Macon-Bibb County is requesting the assistance of Governor Brian Kemp and the State of Georgia in managing emergency situations and providing resources to support the recovery of our community. You can read the full declaration here.

“We want to get our neighbors the help they need immediately,” says Mayor Lester Miller. “Tuesday’s events should be a reminder to everyone to have a plan in case of any emergency. We’re not out of the woods yet.”

Macon-Bibb County is currently under a Tornado Watch until 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, and remains under a River Flood Warning issued by the National Weather Service until about 1:00 p.m., on April 10, 2022.
