The 4th Annual Mayor’s Sneaker Ball filled the historic Macon City Auditorium on Saturday night with celebration, unity, and a shared sense of purpose, bringing together people from across Macon-Bibb County for an evening focused on community and celebrating successes.

Hosted by Mayor Lester Miller, the annual event welcomed business leaders, students, educators, and community members for a night of music, dancing, and connection. Beyond the fun and festive atmosphere, the heart of the evening centered on investing in the next generation through the presentation of the Lester M. Miller Academic Scholarships.

A total of six scholarships were awarded during the program. The 2025 Mayor’s Scholars were Marley Battle, Zaris Odoms, and Karrington Williams, each receiving a $1,000 scholarship to support their educational journeys. The 2025 Merit Scholars were Adeline Cooke, Tabais Williams, and Amari Scott, each receiving a $500 scholarship.

“This night is about more than an event or what we wear on our feet,” said Mayor Miller. “It is about coming together as one community to celebrate what we have accomplished and to invest in the young people who will carry Macon-Bibb County forward.”

Mayor Miller emphasized that the Sneaker Ball reflects the strength of the community when people from all walks of life gather around a common purpose.

“When you look around this room, you see neighbors, leaders, families, students, and public servants, all in one place, not divided by titles or differences, but united by our love for this community,” he continued. “That is what makes nights like this so special.”

The Mayor’s Sneaker Ball has grown into a signature community tradition, blending formal attire with sneakers to symbolize unity, accessibility, and pride in Macon-Bibb County. Proceeds from the event directly support scholarships and youth initiatives, ensuring students have the encouragement and resources they need to pursue their goals.

As the music played and the community celebrated late into the evening, the message of the night remained clear. When Macon-Bibb comes together, it creates meaningful opportunities that leave a lasting impact far beyond the dance floor.
