Macon-Bibb County, along with the Friends of Rosa Parks Square Board, will celebrate the completion of improvements at Rosa Parks Square with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, February 4, at 10:00 a.m. The date is especially meaningful, as it would have been Rosa Parks’ 113th birthday.
After years of community advocacy and collaboration, the downtown park has undergone a reimagining that strengthens its role as a place for gathering, reflection, and civic life. The updates include additional seating, a stage, picnic tables, improved lighting, and a memorial wall that honors Rosa Parks’ legacy and the park’s place in our community.
“This space reflects the strength of our community and the importance of remembering our history while continuing to move forward together,” says Mayor Lester Miller. “It’s a place where people can come together, reflect, and carry forward important conversations.”

This space will continue to serve as a place for reflection, connection, and inspiration for generations to come.”
