The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, SAFEbuilt and Planning and Zoning are hosting a Lunch and Learn for any contractors, architects, or people who want to learn more about the overview and process of permitting. The session is happening on Tuesday, September 19 at the Robert Train Building (715 Oglethorpe Street) from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

“There has been some concern in the past about the process stalling or slowing down when contractors are trying to move their projects forward,” says Fire Chief Shane Edwards. “This event will provide a complete overview of the process and  direct contact information from each organization.”

Those in attendance will be able to ask questions and hear from a panel which will include Jeff Ruggiere with Planning and Zoning, Fire Chief Edwards, Warren Selby with the Appeals Board, and Eddie Moore, Casey Evans, Todd Hendricks, and Don Wilkins from SAFEBuilt.

We also want to make sure people know about our pre-submittal meetings that let us answer any questions or address any concerns before the project begins,” adds Chief Edwards. “This has proven to be instrumental with larger projects in helping people understand the full process ahead of time.”

This is not mandatory for contractors or people interested in the building process. This is an opportunity to teach the design, construction, and development community about the permitting process and bring transparency. You must RSVP by emailing Casey Evans at cevans@safebuilt.com by September 13.
