The Pedestrian Safety Review Board (PSRB) is urging people to join the effort to stay safe along our roadways. On Thursday, June 9 the PSRB held a press conference to let people know how they can help .

“We want people to help us see what we need to do,” said PSRB Chair Greg Brown. “We can’t do this alone. It takes a community to see something and say something.”

On top of the $100,000 being used this year for signs, crosswalk, and more, Mayor Lester Miller has proposed $500,000 be used for pedestrian safety in the FY 2023 budget. 

“We can’t have another pedestrian hurt or killed on our streets if there is something we can do about it,” said Mayor Miller. “But we can’t be everywhere at once, so we need you to speak up and tell us what change you want to see.” 

PSRB is also hosting a walking audit, where people from across our community can walk throughout their neighborhoods and see what needs to be fixed and/or added. There will be a Zoom training meeting on June 16 before the walking audit to help them get ready. To sign up, you can reach out to PSRB board member Charise Stephens at cstephens2@maconbibb.us.
