At the October 2, 2018 Macon-Bibb County Commission Meeting, Dr. Tim McCoy of Ingleside Baptist Church delivered the invocation. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Nyla Lannae Belgrave and Shandrea Nicole Spencer with SMART (South Macon Arts Revitalization Technology.)

Mayor Pro Tem Al Tillman presented a Certificate of Appreciation to community member DeWayne Maxwell for his assistance in finding a group that was illegal dumping trash.

Commissioners authorized an amendment to the agreement with the Macon Chamber of Commerce for ground related to the Chamber Building. 

Commissioners approved an amendment to the contract with Advanced Disposal Services to alter service delivery. Beginning November 1, ADS will collect garbage & recycling in rolling cans. The Solid Waste Department will collect yard waste and bulky items.

Commissioners requested an Internal Auditor conduct an audit of ADS contract services, and for the County Manager to implement an information campaign related to new services.

$90,000 will come from the county Fund Balance to pay for an agreement with the Macon-Bibb County Enhancement Authority to operate the Little Richard House as a Neighborhood Resource Center. 

Commissioners approved revisions to the Purchasing Card Ordinance, to add restrictions on use to purchase meals.

Commissioners voted to accept a $15,000 Health Promotion & Well-Being Grant from ACCG.

The Commission approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority and Macon Water Authority for a project at Sofkee Industrial Park.

The Commission also authorized an amendment to the Trio-Party Agreement between Macon-Bibb County, The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority, and Macon Water Authority regarding the 704 revolving loan fund.

Commissioners voted to allow a day of Sunday voting ahead of the November 6th election. They also voted to spend $4,500 to make it possible. This will take place on Sunday, October 28. Visit the Macon-Bibb Board of Elections website for additional information.

The board voted to spend $27,243 from the County’s fund balance for the Spacer Contract.

Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare will receive two new hot water heaters for $15,050.

New lighting is coming to the Central City Park ball fields. Musco Lighting will provide the lights for $428,000 in SPLOST funds. Middle Georgia Outdoor Lighting will install the lights for $188,600 in SPLOST funds.

The Commission endorsed Markeith Cornelious’ Eagle Scout Service Project to build and place benches with storage areas at Filmore Thomas Park.

The Commission granted a conditional waiver and release of demolition lien against the property at 556 Straight Street.
