The Middle Georgia Regional Airport held its Triennial Tabletop Security Exercise on Friday, July 11, in an effort to keep our airport and travelers safe. Emergency, County, and airport officials gathered in the airport’s conference room to go over safety measures and walk through possible emergency scenarios.
“We do this to make sure if an emergency situation were to happen, that our TSA and security procedures are all on the same page, along with County departments,” said Airport Operations Manager Conner Frost. “We hope to never have to be in these situations, but unfortunately sometimes emergencies happen.”
A Tabletop Exercise is a discussion-based exercise where team members talk though a scenario and discuss what their actions would be in a real event. This kind of exercise stimulates deep conversations and helps all players better understand each other’s rolls and responsibilities.
Airport staff, Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, Mayor’s Office, Atrium Health Navicent, Piedmont Hospital, and other leaders participated in this year’s exercise. The airport is required to hold these tabletop exercises every three years.
