It was another successful Mayor’s Sneaker Ball at the City Auditorium on Friday, December 8, 2023. Hundreds of community members sported their best suits, gowns, and sneakers at the second annual ball.

Mayor Lester Miller and his wife, Toby, kicked off the celebrations by walking to the auditorium from City Hall with Mayor Miller’s Southwest High School’s band playing and leading the way. After Mayor Miller showed off his dance moves and thanked everyone for a wonderful year and for being at the ball, people made their way to the dance floor, where they stayed for hours.

“It was truly incredible to see everyone from different backgrounds and neighborhoods come together for one common goal – their love for Macon,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “I’d like to thank the Mayor’s Ball committee for making this happen. This is an event that just keeps getting better and better, and I can’t wait to see how great it is next year.”

People enjoyed music from two different DJ’s, a 360 photobooth, silent auction, and much more! Mayor Miller also presented the first Mayoral Scholarships to three students – Jamiah Tolbert from Middle Georgia State University, Andreas Cooke from Mount De Sales Academy, and Taft Daniel from Howard High School.

Proceeds made from the ball will go towards the Bicentennial Park and funding the next round of Mayoral Scholarships.
