Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful (KMBB) officially has a new Executive Director. On Tuesday, March 29, KMBB board members introduced Asha Ellen as the lead advocate, champion, and coordinator of a cleaner, more beautiful community.

Dozens of people – including board members, family and friends, partner organizations, county department heads, coworkers, and the media – gathered at City Hall to welcome and congratulate Ellen for her new role. Ellen has been committed to a cleaner community for many years, leading many community cleanups and serving on the board itself prior to this appointment.

“For me it’s more than just picking up trash, it’s picking up our entire community and bettering our community,” said Ellen. “I will continue to serve my community and make them proud.”

Ellen is a 1990 graduate of Southwest High School and later went on to Georgia Southern University when she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Marketing. She also earned a Master’s in Public Administration from Georgia College & State University in 2002.

She has more than 25 years of work experience in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. Before accepting her role with KMBB, Ellen worked with the Macon Judicial Circuit in the District Attorney’s Office as the Director of Outreach, Engagement, & Diversity.

“I believe we’ve chosen the perfect candidate for the job,” said KMBB Board Chair Justin Hollingsworth. “She has already been actively participating in community cleanups, making neighborhoods safer, and creating a greener Macon-Bibb County.”

Ellen currently volunteers and serves on several boards and committees in Macon-Bibb, including  the Girls Coordinating Council, Crisis Line & Safe House Board Member, Scout Reach District Chair, COMPASS Cares Community Advisory Board, Junior League of Macon, Central and Northeast High School’s CTAE Advisory Board, Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Board, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and many other community endeavors. She is also a member of the House of Hope Macon where she serves on the Medical and Hospitality Ministries.
