On Thursday, April 16, Family Counseling Center of Central Georgia (FCC) and Piedmont Macon will hold a Support and Grief Support Session at Rosa Jackson Recreation Center (1211 Maynard Street). The session will be held from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m.
This free session is open to anyone in the community, including family members, emergency personnel, and residents who may feel directly or indirectly impacted by grief. The goal is to provide a safe and respectful space where people can talk, listen, and connect with others who may be experiencing similar emotions.
“At FCC, we are seeing more individuals and families navigating grief connected to recent losses and life-altering events. As an organization deeply invested in our community, we know that healing does not only happen within the walls of a therapy room,” said FCC Executive Director Christy Henry. “It also happens when people come together, feel supported, and know they are not alone. This session provides a safe, welcoming space to connect, reflect, and begin processing grief in a healthy, constructive way.”
“We want attendees to connect directly with experienced grief counselors, healthcare professionals, and trusted community partners,” said Franchetta Trawick, Patient Liaison at Piedmont Macon. “Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful face-to-face conversations about their grief and gain access to resources and information to help them navigate their grief journey.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a panel of professionals experienced in grief and crisis support, along with community members offering peer support. Participants are welcome to share their experiences or simply listen.
This will be the first session, with additional gatherings planned based on community interest.
No registration is required, and anyone who would like to attend can simply show up.
