Macon-Bibb Commissioners voted to accept four grants aimed at helping people utilizing our alternative court systems. All of our alternative courts were created to help rehabilitate and treat people outside a traditional judicial system. • $176,656 will go to the Veterans Court aimed at helping our veterans with rehabilitation, and to cut down on recidivism. The money will go toward a program coordinator, counselors, drug screenings and supplies, and law enforcement.

• $231,708 will go to the Mental Health Court which is there to help non-violent adult offenders. This money will cover a program coordinator, counselors, mental health medication, anger management materials, and other items.

• $127,702 will go to offenders with drug additions and mental health disorders. It’ll pay for case managers, law enforcement, drug testing and supervision equipment.

• $12,684 will be added to already received grant money for our juvenile court system, to bring that total to $309,714. That money will help youth in Functional Family Therapy and other programs to help then learn and get on the right track for adulthood.
