Our student leadership cohort – the Georgia Civic Awareness Program for students or GCAPS – got a firsthand look at our Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in their most recent class.
On October 20, the group met at City Hall and came to the EOC to hear from our Emergency Management Agency Deputy Director, Robert McCord. He explained what the EMA does, how they activate when there’s a crisis, and how they work with various government and community organizations. The students had the opportunity to ask questions and get a tour of the facility.
Each month, The Georgia Civic Awareness Program for Students (GCAPS) teenagers visit a new location in town. The program is for Bibb County Students from every school for them to get an up-close look at our local government and how it operates. To follow their journey, follow the GCAPS page on Facebook.
