Macon-Bibb County is fulfilling a promise to aggressively attack blight throughout the community by ridding neighborhoods of abandoned and dilapidated houses, creating greenspace, supporting organizations involved with neighborhood revitalization, and more. Recently, the Commission approved the first series of projects that will receive nearly $4.4 million in blight funding.  Below is a list of these 15 projects; to read more about each, click on the individual project.

Blight on Lynmore Avenue

A groundbreaking was recently held to celebrate the start of work on the community center in the Mill Hill: East Arts Village. The Macon Arts Alliance is leading a neighborhood revitalization effort in that area by creating greenspace, improving the pedestrian entrance to the Ocmulgee National Monument, repairing and upgrading houses, demolishing dilapidated buildings, and, with the blight funds, turning the community center into an arts center.
