Department of Business & Development Services Merges Functions,
Expands Use of Technology to Serve Public
With the creation of the Department of Business and Development Services (formerly known as Inspection and Fees), Macon-Bibb County is combining the business license, construction permitting, and code enforcement processes. This is part of the ongoing effort to help improve services by aligning and streamlining our work based on the needs of the community.
The Department and its functions are located on the fifth floor of the Government Center Annex at 682 Cherry Street and can be reached at 478-803-0470. Services available through the office include:
· All business license applications and renewals;
· Code enforcement requests;
· Building permits;
· Construction inspection; and
· Plan review services.
Macon-Bibb County continues to expand its use of technology to more effectively respond to public requests. As of Monday, April 14, the Department migrated to the New World software product, allowing the processes to be combined.
Additionally, people can report possible residential code violations through SeeClickFix atwww.maconbibb.us, on the smart phone application, or by calling Customer Service at 478-751-7400. Commercial property code violation reports will be developed for SeeClickFix, so those should be reported directly to Customer Service by phone.
