Over the weekend, three different organizations held community cleanups in different parts of the County. On Friday, our younger generation at Springdale Elementary used their recess time to clean up around their school.
“We teach our students that we are all leaders, and this opportunity is a practical way to show them they can lead the way in bettering our neighborhood and community,” said Springdale Teacher Brenda Moseley. “We also know the importance of teaching our students their responsibility for caring for our environment. We hope that others in our community will see our students contributing in this way and will be inspired to do their part as well.”
The next day, Mount Vernon Baptist Church cleaned up the neighborhood along the church located on Pansy Avenue, and on Sunday, Stratford Academy’s Ecology Club cleaned up along Peake Road.
“Our schools and faith-based organizations are vital to the success of our community,” said Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Executive Director Asha Ellen. “I am looking forward to partnering with our local faith leaders as well as our public, private, and charter schools on our Clean Streets Matter Initiative.”
KMBB provides any organization cleaning up with pickers, bags, vests, and gloves. If you would like to hold a cleanup, contact Ellen at asha.ellen@kmbbc.org.
