On Friday, July 15, Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) staff headed to campus, but not to do their typical jobs. They traded in pencils and paper for trash bags and trash pickers.
“I drive this way to work every day. I’ve driven this way for twelve years and I see a beautiful ecosystem. There are turtles, fish, birds, geese, an alligator or two live here, and they live in this,” said CGTC Director of Library Services and Academics Support Allison Repzynski as she picks up trash.
Repzynski and her colleagues spent the morning picking up trash and litter along Brad Walsh Parkway with help from Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Executive Director Asha Ellen.
“We want to live in a beautiful community. Who wants to live amongst trash, so it’s important we keep our community clean,” said Ellen. “There are also health concerns. There’s a lake where people fish and then you have trash getting into our water system.”
If you would like to hold your own community cleanup, KMBB will provide you with trash bags, pickers, gloves, and vests. You can contact Asha Ellen at asha.ellen@kmbbc.org.
