At an event hosted by the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee, Mayor Robert Reichert and Mayor Pro Tem Bert Bivins presented a State of the Community to about 300 business leaders. To watch the speeches and State of the Community video, click here.

Both talked about the work done by departments to bring the former governments together, the spirit of teamwork shown by the Commission, and significant challenges ahead, including budget issues and the need to improve all areas of the county. As they talked about what lies ahead, they asked for the business community’s support and input because the work needing to be done is more than one group can accomplish on its own. As part of the presentation, a video produced by MaconBibbTV was shown to recap the first year of the consolidated government, from strategic planning to combining departments to challenges to successes and awards.

“We hosted the inaugural State of the Community event so Middle Georgia business leaders could get a progress report on our consolidated government. The Chamber accomplished this goal and added to the success of the event by having a quality presentation from Mayor Reichert and Mayor Pro Tem Bert Bivins in front of a sold out audience,” says Dan Slagle, Chamber of Commerce Chairman. “Due to the success of the entire event the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce looks forward to continuing this annual event.”
