Macon-Bibb County is celebrating the next generation of leaders! During the Commission Meeting on Tuesday, October 6, Mayor Lester Miller presented a proclamation recognizing October 4-10, 2026, as National 4-H Week in Macon-Bibb County.

For 122 years, Georgia 4-H has helped young people develop important life skills, discover their passions, and become leaders in their communities. Through hands-on learning and educational opportunities, 4-H encourages students to explore agriculture, science, civic engagement, leadership, and health and wellness.

“Young people are our greatest natural resource, and programs like 4-H help give them the tools and confidence they need to succeed,” said Mayor Miller. “We’re proud to recognize the students, volunteers, and leaders who make this program such an important part of our community.”

The proclamation also recognizes the dedicated adult volunteers, advisors, and mentors who give their time and talents to support local youth. Their commitment helps create opportunities for students to learn new skills, build relationships, and prepare for the future.

Macon-Bibb County encourages young people and adults to get involved in local 4-H programs offered through the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension.
