On Thursday, June 25, the Macon Area Habitat for Humanity (MAHFH) celebrated its 40th Anniversary by dedicating homes for five local families.

“Creating more affordable housing and revitalizing our neighborhoods takes strong partnerships, and we’re grateful to Macon Area Habitat for Humanity for being a key partner in that effort,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “Together, we’re creating opportunities for more families to achieve homeownership while building stronger, more vibrant communities across Macon-Bibb.”

Three of the homes are in Lynmore Estates, where MAHFH has partnered with families and community stakeholders to transform the neighborhood over the past two decades. Through this long-term investment, Habitat has built more than 70 homes in Lynmore Estates, helping create a thriving, stable community for generations of homeowners.

The other two homes are in Napier Heights, where MAHFH is launching an ambitious neighborhood revitalization initiative focused on increasing affordable housing opportunities, reducing vacancy, and strengthening community stability. The dedication marks an important step in Habitat’s commitment to reinvesting in one of Macon’s key neighborhoods.

“For the last 40 years Macon Area Habitat has worked alongside local families, volunteers and community partners to increase access to affordable homeownership opportunities in Macon-Bibb and Jones Counties. Over 160 families have completed our program and seen the impact homeownership can have on family stability, increased generational wealth and neighborhood revitalization. We are looking forward to celebrating with the Holt, Hearvey, McClinton, Tukes and Edwards families as they become our newest Habitat families,” said Ivey Hall, Executive Director of Macon Area Habitat for Humanity.

The dedication also caps a year of significant growth for the organization. By the close of its fiscal year, MAHFH will have completed eight homes across Macon and Milledgeville with five more currently under construction, while laying the foundation for a substantial increase in construction capacity over the next five years.
