Macon-Bibb County, along with the Friends of Rosa Parks Square Board, will celebrate the completion of improvements at Rosa Parks Square with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, February 4, at 10:00 a.m. The date is especially meaningful, as it would have been Rosa Parks 113th birthday.

After years of community advocacy and collaboration, the downtown park has undergone a reimagining that strengthens its role as a place for gathering, reflection, and civic life. The updates include additional seating, a stage, picnic tables, improved lighting, and a memorial wall that honors Rosa Parks’ legacy and the park’s place in our community.

“This space reflects the strength of our community and the importance of remembering our history while continuing to move forward together,” says Mayor Lester Miller. “It’s a place where people can come together, reflect, and carry forward important conversations.”

“This moment means so much to everyone who has poured their time, energy, and heart into Rosa Parks Square,” says Andrea Cooke, Board Chair of Friends of Rosa Parks Square. “What started as a vision years ago has become a reality because of our community’s dedication. This space will continue to serve as a place for reflection, connection, and inspiration for generations to come.”

Rosa Parks Square has long been a symbol of unity in Downtown Macon. The reimagined space ensures it will continue to serve that purpose for generations to come. The public is invited to attend and be part of this special moment. It will also be live streamed on www.Facebook.com/MaconBibbCounty.
