At the Macon-Bibb County Commission Meeting on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, Pastor Garry Goodin delivered the prayer. Pastor Goodin has been the Executive Director for the Mid-State Baptist Association since 2013. For over 60 years, the Mid-State Baptist Association of churches have been working together to help strengthen families and the community.

Nicholas Battle and Kaitlynn Dixon from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Nicholas loves to play football in his spare time. He also loves video games and says he is “pretty good” at them. His favorite color is red, just like his birthstone which is a ruby. Nicholas’ birthday is July 31. He has one brother and enjoys spending time with his brother.

Kaitlynn loves to dance, and her favorite color is blue. She also loves to read and has several favorite authors including C.J. Lewis, J.K Rowling, Barbara Park, and Dr. Seuss. Kaitlyn loves to wear several different types of shoes including Vans, Jordans, heels, and sandals. Kaitlyn enjoys spending time with her family. She has one brother.

Old Business

Commissioners established a Complete Count Committee to bring together people who are committed to achieving a complete census count for the 2020 Census. The Board approved amending Chapter 25 of the Code to provide for the publication of a local subdivision design manual.

Commissioners approved a Resolution accepting certain maintained roads for public use as part of the County Road system.

A portion of New Forsyth Road within 100 feet of the Academy for Classical Education is now designated as a “School Zone.” Motorists must go no faster than 25 mph in that area.

The Board approved a Professional Services Agreement with Customer Stage Services for stage repairs at the Historic Douglass Theatre.

Commissioners approved a contract with Mid-States Striping for a road Re-striping Project. It will be paid for with funds from the SPLOST & LMIG (Local Maintenance Improvement Grant) Safety Action Plan.

The Board approved a plan to place a memorial plaque in front of Center Hill Baptist Church on May Avenue in honor of Reverend Leroy Reeves, Jr.

Commissioners approved a 401(A) Defined Contribution Plan provided by Nationwide Financial Services, Inc.

Assistant County Attorney Crystal Jones is making a move. Commissioners approved her appointment as the new Municipal Court Judge. Congratulations to Ms. Jones!
