About National Public Works Week
National Public Works Week was May 15-21, and employees were recognized with a Proclamation and a celebratory breakfast. On Saturday, May 21, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, NAACP, and Macon Water Authority Board Member Dwight Jones hosted a breakfast at the Buck Melton Center to thank them for their tireless efforts in keeping the community clean.

“The people that serve our community in these departments deserve our thanks and recognition each and every day,” says Macon-Bibb Commissioner for District 3 and Co-Chair of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elaine Lucas. “They keep our government and our community moving, from fixing our streets to picking up recycling to mowing parks and so much more.”

The Macon-Bibb County Commission also recognized them at its bimonthly meeting with a proclamation proclaiming it National Public Works Week in the county and asking that all people “recognize the contributions which public works officials make every day to our health, safety, comfort, and quality of life.” More than a dozen employees were on hand to be recognized and receive the proclamations.
