At a young age, Tetina Reeves knew she was not going to go down a traditional career path for a woman. In the 80’s, it was not common for women to work in the construction field, she says, but it was something that intrigued her and she wanted to learn.

Starting out at the age of 18, the Macon native was responsible for cleaning up after construction crews. Eventually, she pushed her way through to learn more.

“I had a drive and God put that in me,” said Reeves. “I learned electrical, pipefitting, and plumbing, and it just progressed from there.”

Now, Reeves will be celebrating 22 years of working in our Facilities Management Department, handling electrical work. Reeves is and has been the only woman in this role. She helps with all of the electrical and utility issues related to County facilities and other projects.

She says it has not been easy road, but she credits God for letting her get to this point.

“If I can do it, anybody can do it. “Go for it,” said Reeves.
