Before kids head back to school, the Macon Bacon gave some the opportunity to share the Historic Luther Williams Field with the team’s baseball players.

For three days, about 60 kids ranging from 5 to 14 years old spent their mornings learning baseball skills from Bacon players and most importantly having fun.

“The last 18 months or so, it has been tough to play organized sports. So now it’s nice to see all the kids having fun,” said Head Coach Kyle MacKinnon. “We’re obviously trying to give some instruction, but the big thing is to just keep the kids athletic and outside.”

Camp members were placed in different groups based on their ages and tried different drills, including hitting balls, running, ping pong, and even sliding to different bases.

“I know our guys enjoy coming to the field every day, and we’re just trying to pass that on to the next generation,” said MacKinnon.

The camp may be over for this year, but the Macon Bacon is still playing this season. You can check out their schedule here.
