On Tuesday, May 31, Mayor Lester Miller joined the StepStone Family and Youth Services at Amerson River Park to celebrate StepStone Family and Youth Foster Parent Day.
The contracted child placing agency celebrated their 9th year, serving children in Georgia who have been removed from their families but are still able to live within a community setting as a member of a family. StepStone Foster parents have been instrumental in changing the lives of children who have been placed in the custody of either the Department of Juvenile Justice or The Department of Family and Children Services.
Mayor Miller presented the agency with a proclamation at Amerson to recognize the efforts of the people who give selflessly to the foster parent agency. It was presented at an annual luncheon that thanked foster parents.
“There’s not enough money to pay them for keeping our children safe, so we make sure to set aside time to say thank you and show our concern appreciation,” said LaShay Wilson, Director of Foster Care with StepStone. “The foster parents are there for our children morning, noon, and night.”
