The Family Counseling Center of Central Georgia (FCC) is hosting a Community Festival at Rosa Jackson Recreation Center (1211 Maynard Street) on Saturday, November 8, 2025. It’s free and open to everyone from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
There will be more than 20 different organizations in attendance to provide resources aimed to help with mental health. Families and people of all ages are invited to join in on the fun, food, and games. November is recognized as Early Childhood Mental Health Awareness Month.
“This event is more than a festival, it’s a celebration of community, connection, and care. In honor of Chsandra Johnson and her legacy, we gather to lift one another up, to share resources, and to remind every member of our community that caring for our well-being is something we all share,” says FCC Executive Director Christy L. Henry. “Together, we’re healing hearts, providing hope, and empowering lives – for every child, every family, every neighbor – for the stronger community we’re building together.”
The event is in honor of Chsandra Johnson to recognize the work she did in the community to advocate for mental health services for everyone. Johnson was the case manager at Family Counseling Center and very involved in the east Macon community.
Last year, more than 200 community members attended the festival and this year, they anticipate an even bigger turnout. The Community Festival brings together local nonprofits, organizations, government entities, and community members for a day of resources, connection, and fun featuring bouncy houses, a DJ, and free food for everyone.
The following organizations will be part of the festival: Bibb County School District, Macon Middle-Georgia NPHC, Kingdom Life Ministries, Urban CEO, Macon Mental Health Matters, Hope for the Heart of Georgia, Macon-Bibb Parks and Rec, Macon Black Pages, Central Georgia Coalition of Black Businesses, Crisis Line & Safe House, District Attorney Anita Howard, Macon-Bibb Fire Department, Department of Public Health, Atrium Navicent Health, Barbers on Duty, Goodwill Industries, Lighthouse Recovery Ministries, First Tee – Middle Georgia, iCare Integrated Health Solutions, LifeSPRING of River Edge Behavioral Health, Macon AIM, Macon Bibb EOC, Inc., Macon Recovers Macon Volunteer Clinic, Mother’s Nest, Operation S.L.A.Y.
