The Macon-Bibb County Commission held its fourth and final Strategic Planning session on Tuesday, November 18, receiving an update on strategic projects and giving them the opportunity to modify the Plan before it’s finalized. In previous sessions, the Commission has selected new Mission and Vision Statements, identified five focus areas, and selected strategic projects for the new government.

These sessions and decisions helped develop the Fiscal Year 2015 budget, the first full-year budget for Macon-Bibb County, by prioritizing what is most important to the Commission and community. With a Strategic Plan approved by the Commission, meetings will be held with departments to determine how to bring the projects to completion and to develop the Fiscal Year 2016 budget. This year-long process is funded with a grant from the John S. James L. Knight Foundation and is being facilitated by the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute Of Government.

“As we continue to build a consolidated government, having our focus and projects prioritized will allow us to build a better budget and make significant positive impact on our entire community,” says Mayor Robert Reichert. “I want to thank the Commission for coming together to create this plan so we can move our community forward, together. I also want to thank the Carl Vinson Institute of Government for their services and to the Knight Foundation for providing the grant that made this possible.”
