Mayor Lester Miller has proclaimed February as American Heart Month in Macon-Bibb County. He presented the proclamation to a group of women on behalf of the American Heart Association.

The American Heart Association designated the month of February as American Heart Month, an annual observance which began in 1963 to ignite a wave of red across the country and bring greater awareness to cardiovascular health and diseases.

The American Heart Association launched its signature women’s initiative, Go Red for Women, to be a comprehensive platform designed to increase women’s heart health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women globally.
