One in ten babies born in the United States is premature, which means they are born before 37 weeks of pregnancy. These babies miss out on the crucial growth and development of their final weeks in the womb. Georgia’s prematurity rate is 11.7%, according to the 2020 March of Dimes Premature Birth Report Card.
To bring awareness to this, Mayor Lester Miller presented Atrium Health Navicent with a proclamation, declaring November Prematurity Awareness Month. Click here to read the full proclamation.
