Macon-Bibb County District 9 Commissioner Al Tillman and community partners will hold a neighborhood event on June 30 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at 3642 West Napier Avenue. During the event, there will be information from local organizations, job information, educational opportunities, and food.

“I want our neighborhoods and District to come together through fellowship, food, and fun,” says Commissioner Tillman. Invited guests include Mayor Robert Reichert, State Representatives Nikki Randall and Allen Peake, Gail & Buddy from Live in the Morning, Pastor David Stephens from Greater Bellevue Baptist Church, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, and the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department.

People and groups that would like to be involved by providing information to the community, sponsorships, or in-kind services can contact Commissioner Tillman at 478-951-2409.

This event is another in a series of events and cleanups that have been hosted in District 9 the past several months. It began in earnest when Macon-Bibb County’s 5 x5 Neighborhood Improvement Program began its focused services in the area, and a report of that effort can be read by clicking here. The 5 x 5 Program is an identified project in the Safe Neighborhoods and Safe Communities Focus of Macon-Bibb County’s Strategic Plan.

“We wanted our neighborhoods to be a model of coming together to work with the city and make sure it remained clean once the crews moved to the next area,” says Commissioner Tillman. “I’m proud of our city crews and the residents for working together to clean up the streets, improve safety, attack blight, repaint curbs, fix signs, and so much more.”
