Bringing awareness to lung cancer

In an effort to bring awareness to lung cancer, Mayor Lester Miller proclaimed November as Lung Cancer Awareness Month. On November 15, Mayor Miller presented the proclamation to staff at Atrium Navicent Health’s Peyton Anderson Cancer Center.  

The American Cancer Society estimates approximately 235,760 new cases of lung cancer will be diagnosed in 2021. The rate of new lung cancer cases in Georgia is 63.3, which is significantly   higher than the national average of 58.7.
