After being closed for more than two weeks due to flooding along the Ocmulgee River, Amerson River Park and the Ocmulgee Heritage Traill will reopen Saturday, January 9.

Some areas will remain closed due to standing water and mud. At the Trail, the boat ramp by Spring Street will be closed because of mud and silt. At Amerson River Park, the north canoe launch, lower canoe takeout, and the back area near the pond remain closed due to mud, silt, and standing water. Barrels and barricades will mark which areas will be off limits.

“The Commissioners and I want to thank all our employees and partners that responded to the flood, both during the flood to keep people safe and informed, and afterwards to clean up and make repairs,” says Mayor Robert Reichert.
