On Friday, May 5, six women business owners will get the opportunity to win $1,0000 in the 2023 Women’s Pitch Contest at Macon City Hall (700 Poplar Street). The business owners will go before a panel of judges to pitch their business ideas. The contest begins at 5:00 p.m. and it is free and open to the public.

“We are so excited for these events as Macon-Bibb has been a leader when it comes to women-owned small businesses,” said Office of Small Business Affairs (OSBA) Director Charise Stephens. “OSBA hopes to grow the number of women owned businesses that are vendors with Macon-Bibb and programs like this, help us reach untapped participants.”

This event is sponsored by our OSBA and SCORE Middle Georgia. The Women’s Pitch Contest is for women who want to start a new business, and is open to Macon-Bibb residents, or residents of other counties who are interested in opening a business in Macon- Bibb County.  Six finalists were selected to win the $1,000 cash prize as well as free services from various providers. Applications were due on April 14.

“SCORE’s 10,000 volunteers across the US are committed to helping women start and grow small businesses,” said Matt McKenna “The SCORE Middle Georgia Chapter has assisted more than 1,000 women since our start in 2016, and are excited to partner with the Macon-Bibb Office of Small Business Affairs for the Women’s Pitch Contest and the 6th Annual Middle Georgia Women’s Entrepreneurial event.”

Coaches were assigned to each finalist to help them prepare their 4-minute PowerPoint presentation. After they present, they will have a 5-minute Q&A session from the five judges.

Following the Pitch Contest is a Networking Event that is open to all business owners. There is a $25 fee for those attending the Event. Registration is required before May 3. You can do so by emailing CStephens2@maconbibb.us
