District 1 Commissioner Valerie Wynn is excited to see her district bustling with so many different things to do. North Macon has an extensive variety of shops to choose from, and it keeps growing!
The most recent addition includes the North Macon Shopping Plaza right off of I-75 on Bass Road. The plaza added stores and restaurants such as Home Goods, Old Navy, David’s Bridal, and Your Pie.
“District One has a lot of commercial development,” said Commissioner Wynn. “We have this shopping center, and if you go down Bass Road and Riverside Drive you have Ashley Furniture.”
As part of its Interstate Exit Beautification Program, our Parks & Beautification Department added trees and plants to beautify the I-75/Bass Road exit and off ramps, as well as at the exits for Eisenhower Parkway and Pio Nono Avenue. Thousands of people travel through this area daily, whether they’re from Macon-Bibb County or from out of town.
“It serves as one of our entrances to Macon-Bibb County, and it makes a good welcome for people,” said Commissioner Wynn. “It looks pretty, and if things look nice, people will want to get off the interstate and come shop here.”
While commercial development is growing, so is residential development! Off Northside Drive, a brand-new Senior Living Facility just opened its doors this Fall. Northside Senior Village is a three-story affordable housing complex that offers one and two-bedroom apartments, as well as a community kitchen, gathering rooms, laundry, garden, and fitness center.
“I’m really proud that Macon-Bibb is thinking about all of our citizens,” said Commissioner Wynn. “From apartments for younger people to senior housing. We’re trying to take care of everybody.”
