In an effort to have a healthier workforce, the Macon-Bibb County Human Resources Department is hosting a Wellness Fair as part of its annual health insurance enrollment process.
“Instead of just signing people up for their insurance, we want to provide our employees with the ability to lead healthier lives all year long,” says Human Resources Director Ben Hubbard. “We are committed to helping people take their health and well-being seriously by forming healthy habits, increasing their awareness of health and wellness matters, and becoming inspired and empowered to make better choices relative to their health.
The Wellness Fair will be held October 21-23 and 26-28 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Macon City Auditorium, main floor. Employees will be able to visit health information booths, and register for various drawings from participating vendors to win a 32” Color Television, $100 gift cards, gas cards, grocery cards, fitness kits, and more. Employees will also be able to get free flu shots, hear from health experts, sample healthy foods, get free mini massages, and learn about Macon-Bibb’s Wellness Program and how to get involved.
“Something we’re very excited about is that on October 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., employees will be able to take pictures with the Heisman Trophy,” adds Hubbard.
Open Enrollment for insurance will occur on all six days, and will be held in the basement of the Auditorium in Rooms A and B. (For times, please check with your Department Head or contact Human Resources.) Employees will learn what’s new in 2016 and be shown how to access the new online enrollment. Computers will be available for employees who do not have regular access to a computer. Employees are to attend Open Enrollment first, then walk up to the main floor to enjoy the Passport to Wellness Health Fair.
