Wear pink Friday for Breast Cancer Awareness

Macon-Bibb County, Navicent Health, Coliseum Health System, and the United Way of Central Georgia will hold a press conference to help raise awareness for the importance of breast cancer screening and to ask people to wear pink on Friday, October 30.

The press conference will be held Wednesday, October 28 at 11:00 a.m. in Commission Chambers in Government Center (700 Poplar Street). It will only be open to speakers, staff, and the media due to COVID-19 precautions, and it will be broadcast live on the Macon-Bibb County Facebook page.

During the press conference, Mayor Robert Reichert will read a proclamation about Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Commissioners Elaine Lucas and Valerie Wynn will talk about the recently passed Resolution declaring it Breast Cancer Awareness Month, representatives from the hospitals will talk about the importance of women and men getting screened, and the United Way will let people know how they can help people get tested and support those diagnosed with cancer.
