On Sunday, November 6, hundreds of people participated and joined to watch the 2nd Annual Veterans Day Celebration in Downtown Macon.
The parade featured floats with veterans from different military branches, government offices, law enforcement, marching bands, and community organizations. Families lined Cherry, First, Mulberry Streets to cheer and wave.
The parade was followed by a free celebration at Historic Luther Williams Field with food trucks, vendors, a kids zone with bounce houses, and a live performance by 38 Special.
“It was so great to see so many people from our community and surrounding areas come out and celebrate our veterans. They deserve to be celebrated every day,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “I want to thank everyone who came together to make this possible another year. I hope this celebration for our veterans happens for many years to come.”
This event was brought to you by Macon-Bibb County, the Cherry Blossom Festival, Cox Communications, the Miner Agency, the Macon Bacon, Visit Macon, Cumulus Macon, and WMGT.
