From NewTown Macon:
On Halloween evening, Monday, October 31, NewTown Macon will host trick-or-treating in downtown Macon from 4pm to 7pm. Thirty-six businesses and organizations will open their doors to families with children in Macon’s Central Business District and pass out candy and other treats
“Each year, we are overwhelmed by the number of families enjoying downtown Macon and interacting with downtown merchants during Halloween,” said Emily Hopkins, NewTown Macon’s Director of Place and Main Street Macon Manager. “Downtown is an inclusive space for every Maconite and this is one of the ways we welcome every member of our community to enjoy our urban streets.
Several businesses have expanded their Halloween offerings this year and are hosting festivals during trick-or-treating hours. Emerson at Plum and Fall Line Brewing Co. will activate their outdoor spaces with carnival games and Serenity Entertainment Complex will host a Halloween Kids Party
Other organizations that do not have storefronts in the walkable area of the urban core are also participating. Macon Mayhem and the Macon Centreplex will set up downtown with candy and Book Em will be stationed at The Bohemian Den for a book giveaway. Additionally, WGXA will activate an alley with activities.
“As chair of the Main Street Macon events committee, it’s been a great honor working with members of our community to help bring some normalcy back,” said Felicia Howard, owner of Felicia’s Cake Factory and Main Street Macon events committee chair. “We want to provide a space of celebration and it is really important for us to continue this tradition and offer more programming that attracts families from all demographics to enjoy what downtown Macon has to offer.”
