Macon-Bibb County consolidated government offices will be closed several days the next few weeks for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. We want to make sure you have all the information you need for a fun and tidy holiday season.
Government offices are closed Friday, December 23 and Monday, December 26 in observance of Christmas. They’ll also be closed Friday, December 30 and Monday, January 2 in observance of New Year’s Day. All emergency services will remain active as usual.

Our Solid Waste Department wants to remind everyone of best practices for disposing of your holiday waste.
- Do break down boxes to ensure they can fit inside of the recycling containers;
- Don’t stack boxes next to the garbage or recycling carts which will hinder proper pick up and delay the drivers;
- Don’t overstuff and pack containers; it makes it difficult to empty;
- Do Use the Convenience Centers to dispose of any oversized boxes, electronics, toys, etc.
As for your Christmas trees, you’ve got several options to dispose of them safely. Ryland Environmental will pick them up at the curb as a bulk item, not yard waste. We also encourage everyone to bring your trees to Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful’s annual “Bring One for the Chipper” event on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Historic Luther Williams Field (225 Willie Smokie Glover Drive) from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. You can drop your tree off and receive free seed packets at the same time. Those trees, and the ones collected at the Convenience Centers, will be recycled and turned into mulch or used for fish habitats. All trees must be unbound and free of all decorations.
