Heritage Trail, parts of Amerson River Park closed due to flooding

With this past week’s rainfall, the Ocmulgee River was at 23.77 feet on Friday at 9:00 a.m., which is nearly six feet about minor flood stage and nearly eight feet above where we take action. With its current height, the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail is completely closed, and we have closed both boat ramps and the unpaved trails around the pond at Amerson River Park.

The River is expected to rise a little more before receding. Once it has receded from the Trail and the Park, we will assess any damage and conduct any repairs or cleanup before reopening.
