We’re ending the year with TONS to be grateful for at the Brookdale Resource Center. The Gardens at Brookdale have officially produced more than 4,030 pounds of fruits, vegetables, and herbs.
Seeds and crops were first planted at in April of this year, and since then, we have harvested squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage, carrots, lettuce, and SO much more.
“I never thought we would be harvesting this much in December, but here we are. The frost and cold did slow things down but almost everything rebounded,” said Gardens Manager Susan Fisher. “We could not have met this milestone without our generous donors and hardworking volunteers.”
The Gardens are made possible because of donations and volunteers. Thanks to this generosity, residents at the Brookdale Resource Center get fresh produce with their meals. If you would like to volunteer or donate, visit UnitedWayCG.org /gardens-brookdale.
