When given the opportunity to dispose of old tires properly for free, our community really showed up and showed out. During the Tire Amnesty Day on December 12, hundreds of people brought 193.17 tons of tires to the landfill.

“Those are tires our crews didn’t have to go around every week and pick up from the side of the street. It’s important to us, and it’s important to our community,” said Public Works Director Tim Wilder.

This Amnesty Day was made possible through a $50,000 grant that Sherita Jones with our Budget and Strategic Planning Office worked hard for the County to earn. We will continue to work on getting future Tire Amnesty Days for our community.

In the meantime, people can take up to four tires to the new Convenience Center (1010 11th Street). The Center does NOT accept commercial vehicle tires.
