More revitalization and economic development are coming to East Macon as Mayor Lester Miller announced at his State of the Community address the current coliseum would be replaced. It would be a more modern and larger facility to better accommodate a wider variety of events.

“Envision a new coliseum that will attract larger concerts, events, and shows, just like our amphitheater has done,” Mayor Lester Miller asked them. With the new arena, Macon-Bibb can continue to grow as a statewide destination for sporting events, concerts, and more.

Just this week, Macon-Bibb began the whole process of planning when it issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) of interested persons or organization qualified as an owner’s representative / project manager for the New Macon Arena project. The Project Manager would be responsible for the daily coordination, schedule review, and project oversight duties and services for the New Macon Arena Project.
