Five employees at the Tax Commissioner’s Office are looking forward to starting the new year as retired. Each has served there at least 20 years there.

Denise Slocumb – Chief Deputy and Deputy of Taxpayer Services – 41 plus years

Shirley Hicks – Asst. Deputy of Taxpayer Services – 37 years

Kendall Countryman – Deputy Commissioner of Administration – 30 years

Melinda King – Tax Office Administrator – 22 years

Luree Hawkins – Tax Office Clerk Senior – 20 plus years

“Our office is losing about 150 years of experience, but what saddens me more is that I will no longer see some of my friends on a daily basis. Even though I will miss the daily interactions with our retirees, I am excited about the next chapter in our office,” said Tax Commissioner Wade McCord.

They all say they will miss their coworkers and the customers they interacted with the most, but they are looking forward to beginning this new journey of being able to spend more time with their families and their hobbies.

“We are using this opportunity to reorganize and offer advancement to several of our coworkers. By promoting from within, we will be able to continue to provide the taxpayers of Bibb County the superior level of service to which they have become accustomed,” Wade adds.

From #TeamMaconBibb, we thank you all for your wonderful years of service and wish you all the best in your retirement!
